The name of my book is called Pretties. It is written by Scott Westerfeld.
Pretties is set in New Pretty Town, this is where the new pretties go after they have their surgery on their 16th birthday.
The world that the characters live in is both a dystopian world but also a utopian world. Yes those two worlds are completely opposite of eachother but the with the world they live in there are two points of view. The world they live in is perfect but is also extremely threatening and undesirable. The world is broken up into these four social classes. The Uglies, the Pretties, the Specials, and the Extras. These social classes are what makes this world dystopian. They are threatening to the society they live in.
Pretties is set in the future.

When tally was an ugly she would party with the pretties until one day when she realized that the surgery changes your mind. When she is a pretty some of her friends from her “past life” (when she lived in ugly town) steals her pills that are supposed to clear her from her “mental fog” ( when the surgery changed her mind). Tally, her boyfriend, and some other pretties escape pretty town. Tally is soon separated from her friends and has to find her way back to pretty town. An old friend of Tally’s finds her (now works for the leaders of the society) and forces her to become a “Special”.
The climax is where Tally and Zane share the “Cure Pills” after climbing the tower of the Mansion. And then special circumstances arrives.

Through appearance, the only people who are high and mighty with power are the ones who are attractive or also known as pretty. If you are not considered pretty then you have no power and no one cares about you. With friendship you don’t want to be living in a world such as the world the characters live in with no friends.
Tally realizes these social classes when she turns into a pretty. She sees the other side of the story and can see that when she was ugly she had no power. Tally has never really had no friends in her life. So she doesn't really know the feeling of being
