To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is about Scout Finch who happens to be six years old. Scout and her older brother Jem live in Maycomb, Ala. Most of the time they’re both with their friend Dill and always happen to be watching their neighbor Boo Radley. Then there comes a point in the novel where Atticus (their father) and very great lawyer defends a black man named Tom Robinson who is getting rape charges pressed against him. Which leads to a trial that shows children how cruel and not okay racism and stereotyping is. This novel should continue to be read in 2016 because it gives people a message. Reason why is because in the novel Atticus plays a very important role. Atticus teaches us that everyone should be treated equally. For example Atticus says, “every lawyer gets atleast one case in his lifetime that affects him personally. This one’s mine, I guess. You might hear ugly talk about it at school, but do one thing if you will; hold your head high and keep those fists down. No matter what anybody says to you, don’t let’em get …show more content…
This novel really teaches many of us valuable lessons because it lets you realize how much racism isn’t okay. You’re going to break down this society and make it worse and worse every day. Which is the reason why we should all choose too look at each other equally.

To Kill a Mockingbird is such a great novel because not only does it teach us that we should treat others the way we would like to be treated but it also shows us that you should never physically get into a fight or altercation. The list of reasons why this novel should continue getting read could go on and on but one other important reason why would be because it gives flashbacks to our country’s past and shows life lessons which also helps us understand other peoples point of view a lot
