Christopher Columbus Was Not A Great Hero

Do you think Christopher Columbus was a great hero or was he not? I think that Christopher Columbus was not a great hero because he discovered America by an error/accident. He was looking for a new trade route to India and found The New World (America) but he did not know this, he still thought that he found India.

In The New World he found that there were Natives living there but he referred to them as Indians because he thought he had made it to India. Columbus also sent many Natives back to his King and Queen to use as slaves. He took all of the Natives gold and made them get it for him, if they did not reach the right amount at a certain time their arms would be cut off.
