The novel Wonder is written by R.J Palacio. This story is about a young boy who looks physically different from everyone else. Throughout the first few days he figures out that school is going to be difficult and a long haul. In the book Wonder it is evident that everybody needs friends to help them through difficult times. Summer and Jack help Auggie (the main character) through the tough times. They do this when he is lonely and has no friends at the start of his school adventure, when he is getting bullied and the tough times when his 44ed4pet Daisy’s passes away. The first day of school and being the new kid can be hard for everybody. Auggie has to face anxiety and people being addicted to looking at his face and seeing his face for the first time. At lunchtime August is ready to eat his lunch all by himself, Auggie is all prepared to be by himself until, Summer joins him at the table. “It’s hard enough being the new kid even when you have a normal face. Imagine having his face? So I just went over and sat with him. Not a biggie.” (Summer, p.119). Summer does not care about sitting with Auggie, but to Auggie this is a massive deal.
