A Personal Definition of Poetry Poetry by definition is, “literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature”. I am in assent with this definition for I enjoy both expressing and feeling specific emotions when reading and writing poetry.
The unique aspect on poetry is the rapport between the semantic content within each word and rhythm that make it an absolute pleasure to enjoy reading. By experience, studying poetry is studying heaven. The satisfying and profound feeling one receives after searching for the implied message along with the use of sophisticated literary devices (often metaphors) to create incantatory effects, makes it worthwhile. The language of poetry when recited is powerful enough to induce unwavering emotions to the listening audience with respect to its language difference between regular proses. Poems frequently depend on word use, musical rhythm, and effects of imagery through interactive layering to generate true meaning.
Poetry is also very ambiguous. The interpretation and possibilities are to infinite since there is no right or wrong way with poems. It is expressed in various different forms to convey different feelings and moods for a purpose. Every poem ever written will differentiate due to the possession of different sounds (alliteration, consonance, rhyme), diverse forms (concrete, white spaces, punctuation free),
