It has been told throughout history that knowledge is power and thus those who control knowledge have all the power. In 1984, the party rewrites history and regulate what is made public and what is destroyed to never be seen again. This has shown to be an effective way to control the citizens in 1984. Although the government believes that controlling the intake of knowledge is the best way to keep society peaceful and ignorant, nevertheless, George Orwell believes this type of control is the most dangerous because, when citizens are naive about public affairs and kept in the dark, they tend to believe in a false form of freedom. Greg Orwell said ‘And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed – if all records told the same tale
