When working in care homes with vulnerable adults who may have some difficulties, it is important that we protect the wellbeing of the them as well as the employees in the environment. We need to ensure that they are remote from any danger that takes place in the care home itself and check that they’re health and safety is sensibly and effectively managed.
The term “Hazard” defines a risk that may cause potential harm to someone or something in the environment. There are various types of hazards that may occur in a care home such as health, safety and security.
Health hazard is something which can affect your health in many ways such as having a plastic bag on the floor can cause you to trip and injure yourself.

This can be dangerous for them as they might suffer from burns and scalds too. Burns and scalds cause damage to the skin by heat or hot drinks such as tea or boiled water. The patient may suffer from blisters and their skin starting to gradually peel off, this is not beneficial for someone who has arthritis. This is a danger for someone with arthritis, so therefore they will need to learn how to cope with joints that don’t move well and may be unstable. In order to help them learn how to do this, they will need to regularly hol light objects for example; a cup which contains no liquid.
