Sojourner Truth was a strong woman who fought for what she believed in. In her speech she mentions the privileges other women have that she doesn’t have. In her claim “Where there is so much racket there must be something out of kilter” states that since there’s so much going on, something must be wrong. She states “Ar’n’t I a woman?” many times in her speech, stating that she can do the same as men, although she is a woman. She mentions how she has done the same work as men and “beared the lash as well”. She escaped slavery in 1827. During the civil war, she traveled, collected food and clothes for black regiments.
