In the novel, A Separate Peace, by John Knowles, the chapter begins with Gene hearing that Finny’s leg was shattered. He tried to stop thinking about everything and thought the best way to do that was to dress in Finny’s clothes. The doctor told Gene that Finny would be walking again but never playing sports.
