By the organization of her ideas into a persuasive paragraph, Abigail Adams displays her skills and abilities as a writer to her audience, her husband. Starting with a claim, that she is “more and more convinced that Man is a dangerous creature” (Adams 229), Adams establishes her beliefs from the beginning of the paragraph, requiring John Adams to take attention to her message. Following this claim, she then states her reasoning for believing it, writing about the grave, the hungry fish, and men in the government as a means of explaining her rationalization. By using completely different subjects in a single argument, she also gives it an especially powerful emphasis, along with a strong demonstration of her comprehension of Enlightenment ethics
