Access to healthcare has been a long-standing, political issue and concern for many American citizens who do not have health insurance. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), the number of uninsured Americans in 2014 was 32 million (2015). For Americans with health insurance, getting a routine check-up does not present too much of a problem. Unfortunately, the 32 million uninsured Americans do not have the same access to care and are faced with extreme medical costs. This health care disparity is faced with long-term consequences that not only affects those who are uninsured, but also has financial implications that have an impact on a national level.
