The Civil War A North South Perspective
The Civil War. One of the biggest wars in American history. Took place in 1861, this war was because of two sides having their different opinions about slavery. For the North they did want slavery to continue and all together stop it, but the South said otherwise. They wanted to have more slaves and said everybody should too. Because of these two sides difference of opinions on slavery the war was started.
As the war progressed, many things helped sides have a better chance at winning the war. One of the North’s advantages was more resources than the South. Some of the resources that the North had more of were things like guns. First they had much less people fighting for them than the North. With less people fighting for them it became a much more tiring war. Because of that it played a huge disadvantage to them. Another disadvantage that the South was was their lack of naval power and railroad. With less naval power they were not able to beat the North’s blockades. With less railroad they had a much harder time transporting things which played a big disadvantage to them.
Though advantages and disadvantages played a big part in the war, military strategy played a big role as well. One of the North’s military strategies was to blockade them. By doing this they were able to make transportation harder for the South. With transportation being hard moving soldier to different battlefields was very difficult. Another strategy was to isolate the South from getting any resources. By the South not being able to get any foreign help they had to fight one their own. With that they could not get more resources so they were stuck with the little supplies they
