We the federalists have had control over the new government for twelve years. The reason we have been in control of government for twelve years is partially because George Washington always wanted a strong national government. The most important person in his administration was Alexander Hamilton. He is the most aristocratic in his political philosophy than any of the other leaders. Hamilton believes that to have an effective and stable government an elite ruling class is required. We also offer more than a vision of a stable new government we offer a vision of what America should become. This will provide loans and currency to businesses, give the gov. a safe place to deposit federal funds, enable the collection of taxes and the payment of the government’s expenses, and provide a firm center to the nation’s small and frail banking system. The bank is good for us federalists because it would be unlike and other banks ever seen in America and it would create a model for American financial markets.
Another one of Hamilton’s policies was to put an excise tax on alcoholic beverages and a tariff on imports. The tax on alcoholic beverages will mostly affect the whisky distilleries of the back country, and small farmers who convert part of their corn and rye into whisky. This will not only raise money for us federalist but protect domestic industries from foreign competition as well.
Thomas Jefferson wants to abolish all internal taxes. This would leave custom duties and the sale of western lands as the only source of profits for the government. Jefferson wants to get rid of as much of the debt as he can as well as scale down armed forces. He thinks that anything other than the smallest of standing armies might threaten some civil liberties and civilian control of government. This vision is awful because even though he makes the armies smaller he wants to establish the United States Military Academy. Through Thomas’s childish and arrogant characteristics all of his policies will eventually lead to war or humiliation of
