An alternate career path I have considered is pursuing a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and then a career in law. To begin pursuing law, one must obtain a BS, and, although there are no course requirements, it is highly recommended that prospects take a broad range of difficult courses. Upon receiving a BS, one must apply to law schools, for which LSAT scores, a high GPA, volunteering, and letters of recommendation are needed. Once in law school, one must graduate to receive a JD, and pass the state Bar Exam. After that, a newly minted lawyer may begin practicing law, and many choose to do so under the supervision of experienced lawyers in law firms, as associates. In addition, a JD does not only allow one to work under a firm, but also to pursue careers in government and politics, later in their careers. In fact, leading up to my senior year of high school, I had planned to pursue law as a career. Many of my abilities and interests, such as reading, writing, and debate, match up with the skills required to practice law well.
