The friendship between Amir and Hassan is not equal despite everything Hassan does for Amir, he is not loyal back. Hassan and Amir were brothers whether they knew it or not they had still been raised and treated each other that way, they grew up together, and spent nearly every hour of the day together, like brothers.the theme of loyalty is important in Kite Runner because it tends to be the driving factor for decisions made by all the characters throughout the novel, heavily influencing them and how they solve their problems.
Hassan was loyal to Amir, so much that he said himself he would eat dirt if Amir asked him to. All Amir cared about was getting that kite to impress his father even though Hassan had done more for him than Baba ever would.Amir makes Hassan fight all of his battles for him as a kid, letting his best friend take his beatings for him rather than stand up for himself. Amir is so preoccupied with trying to earn his father’s respect and attention that he at times neglects his brothers.
