Innovations and inventions have always been foremost in the progression of civilized society. Many of these developments started abrupt advancement, while others merely provided the basis for potential development for the future. The progress was often slow and erratic but led to what was considered luxuries of their time and necessities of our current age. From the centuries old employment of stone technology at the beginning of recorded human history to present-day technology, invention and innovation have improved all aspects of life. The past challenges encouraged the development of future generations away from small societal struggles to global innovation and education.
Progress was based mainly upon the positive historical impact it created. Perhaps one of the greatest contributions to all discovery is the ability to collect and document knowledge. Such was the foundation of modern society;it supported the steady accumulation of intellectual accomplishment. The word paper actually originates from the Egyptian word papyrus. The papyrus plant was found to be suited for a writing due to its texture. The earliest known papyrus originates from the First Dynasty of Egypt and continued until approximately11th century AD. From this time on, society began to seek improved methods of written expression other than papyrus.
