The ISTE 3 standard states that teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Also, Part B of the standard states that teachers are to collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation. The assignment that I created, Animated Tutorial, meets this ISTE 3 standard in many different ways. First, the animated tutorial is easy to access for students and parents at home. I used digital tools such as Screencast-o-matic and YouTube to deliver my lesson to student at home. The learning theory of constructivism has goals stating that instructors do not structure learning but engage learners in authentic learning activities. By making an animated tutorial video, this engages learners in activities other that the original pen and paper notes. It gives students many different outlooks of content being taught by making it very accessible to them to access the information. The teaching method was to get the information to the student using an animated tutorial and I applied the learning theory to this by constructing a video that engages learning in authentic learning. I learned that if you add animations and transitions in your PowerPoint show, you would grab the attention of the viewers a lot more. Also, the slide show looks better overall than without animations and transitions. I also learned that its always good to teach in your own style, if you want to add an attention grabber to get the students ready to learn and interested, them throw a couple in before each new topic.
