Every single year we kill nearly 56 billion animals, whether it be for meat or for products such as leather. In the past this was something we needed to do because it was the only method in which we could receive products such as meat and leather. However, that is now a thing of the past, we don’t need to kill such a vast number of animals in order to receive their products. Now we can use biofabrication, biofabrication allows us to recreate automated tissues such as meat, leather, organs and pretty much anything else that is made up of cells and tissue. We’re currently just at the tip of the iceberg because if we continue to expand our studies in biofabrication we can make the production of meat and other animal products cheaper and more effective. Looking towards biofabrication instead of animals will also greatly help us reduce the deaths of animals, would help promote better treatment of animals and would greatly benefit us. …show more content…
Others think the same as Jeremy Rifkin in the article “A Change of Heart about Animals,” which believe that animals are similar to humans because they express intelligence and feeling and therefore we shouldn’t treat the way we currently do. Turning to biofabrication would greatly reduce that number of people and satisfy their beliefs. During the biofabrication process no animal is hurt because the animal products are simply harvested as they were plants because they simply cultivate the cells.
