There are many viewpoints on the use of medical marijuana. One side’s opinion is that marijuana shouldn't be used because it's known as a gateway drug. The other side’s opinion is that it should be used because of the advantages marijuana gives to people. The benefit of using marijuana is almost limitless. It relieves cancer patients by repressing the pain. Autistic children and pregnant women are also aided by the use of medical marijuana. Medical marijuana, a safe and natural drug when managed properly, should be made legal to use.

Epileptics, people who suffer from seizures, are having their seizures suppressed by medical marijuana. After a person is diagnosed with cancer they can get various treatments. Chemotherapy is one of the treatments. Unfortunately it is very painful, and people with cancer will use cannabis to relieve the pain. Cannabis is less harmful to the body than smoking. Instead of causing cancer it actually has an ‘anti-tumoral effect’ (McManis), meaning the cancer cells die before they can become cancerous because of the THC in cannabis.

Women who are pregnant will take cannabis and it helps them. Why do they use cannabis? They use cannabis to stop the effects of hyperemesis gravidarum. It can cause a pregnant woman to be put into the hospital or even lose her child because she can't keep food down.
