Atticus is a lawyer of Maycomb. Most of the town respects Atticus for the past things he’s done for the town. He was respected because he stood up for what he thought was right. Even whenever it came to a black person, he stood up for them even when he knew it was a risk. They also thought he was very brave for standing up for a black man, even when he knew they’d lose he still stood up for him and kept fighting to try to win. Atticus is also a very polite respectful man, no matter how much you push him to hurt a person or do anything bad he’s so put together that he will simply not say a word and walk away. So people treated him as a wise soul. He will help out and do anything for anyone if they need it. He’s very understanding towards everyone, like when Mrs. Dubose comments on his children and says mean things he tells them to hold their heads high and ignore it. Reason being that he respects her, he only sees the good in everyone and he tells his children that she is a wonderful lady and they should respect her more. When Atticus does a favor for Mr. Cunningham, Mr.Cunningham is so poor he pays him in return with hickory nuts. …show more content…
