Biological influences is when a child is in their preschool years. They prefer to play with children of the same sex. Little boys are more likely than girls to do physical rough housing. Adults encourage boys and girls to play together and try to give their children the same toys. Biological scientists believe that these preferences have a basis in prenatal hormones, which is the presence or absence of prenatal androgens (masculinizing hormones). Girls who are exposed to higher-than-normal prenatal androgens in the womb will more likely than non exposed girls to prefer boy toys like cars and firetrucks and be physically aggressive than other girls.
