Bipolar disorder (BP) is a psychiatric disease, estimated to affect between 2– 3% of the general population and it is well know, because is more degrading in disability-adjusted life-years than cancer or major neurologic conditions. It is characterized mainly by depression and the cause of disease is complex, involving multiple genes and environmental factors.
