“Black Blizzard” Summary In the mid 1930s, parts of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico and other states were hit by many dust storm. These storms were some of the worst disasters in American History. The dust storms made the land virtually uninhabitable, threatening many people’s lives. In the early 1900s, many families bought land in these areas, it being mostly dry grasslands, making it hard for crops to grow. However hard work turned a profit and grew food. In 1931, a drought fell across the middle of the country, The effects of the stock market crash were still being felt, and the Great Depression. But now farmer got about no rain at all.
For five year, crops failed, and Farmers had no profit to pay their mortgages, and soon the worst
