When we as a country are banning books, that is when we know we have failed. Book banning continues to be a growing problem in what is supposed to be the nation of freedom: America. When will this trend of information restriction stop? Books written on quote-unquote “harmful and inappropriate topics,” such as “uncomfortable history” and the experiences of minorities, are the ones mainly targeted for bans across the country. These books and their authors have the right to be read and understood by anyone who wishes to read them. Banning and challenging them leads only to a lack of crucial understanding between communities. Regardless of what society tends to believe, ignorance is not strength!
