Describe the different parts of the human brain
Meninges = protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord
Cerebrospinal Fluid = cushioning fluid that circulates between the innermost and miate membranes of the brain and spinal cord; provides a connection between neurei and endocrine system.
Forebrain = anterior part of the brain
Cerebrum = largest, most highly developed part of the brain; stores sensory info and initiates voluntary motor activities
Cerebral Cortex = outer lining of the cerebral hemisphere
Corpus Callosum = nerve tract that joins the 2 cerebral core hemispheres
Thalamus = either of 3 large, ovoid structures of grey matter within the forebrain that relay sensory impulses to the cerebral cortex
Cerebekkum = part of the hindbrain that controls limb movements, and muscle tone

1. The frontal lobe of Gage’s brain was damaged.
2. Phineas Gage’s frontal lobe was damaged by the accident, though others seem to think he was fine. His personality drastically changed. His frontal lobe was damaged, and this component controls personality and intellectual thinking. “Harlow documented the ‘mental manifestations’ of Gage’s brain injuries”. More information was found at........ http://neurophilosophy.wordpress.com/2006/12/04/the-incredible-case-of-phineas-gage/
3. A physician might attempt an operation where the nerve tract between the thamalus and the frontal lobes are severed because without the connection, it would most likely be difficult to do much of anything. The hypothamalus would interpret information and the frontal lobe would not be able to control…
