One psychological therapy is CBT (Beck). It is intended to be administered in 16-20 sessions. In addition to homework, it's two main sections are thought-catching and behavioural activation. In thought catching, individuals see the link between their thoughts and feelings. For instance, as homework they may record any emotionally-arousing events and their immediate negative thoughts and feelings. They then record realistic thoughts to challenge the negative ones. In replacing dysfunctional thoughts with constructive ones, clients are developing a new behaviour.
