Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing organization that works in nearly 1,400 communities across the United States and in approximately 70 countries around the world and responds to the needs of society on a global scale. Besides, housing is a basic need for humans because it protects us from heat, snow, cold, wind, or rain, and some people are denied this basic need. However, Habitat for Humanity is providing access to safe, decent and affordable housing for everyone, which is one of the ways it responds to the society’s needs. Not only are they providing homes for people, they are breaking the poverty cycle and they are empowering them along with giving people opportunities. Therefore, this will help the society because our GDP will increase due to the increase in labour force, and with the GDP rising that means our nation is moving forward. Besides, Habitat for Humanity responds really well to people who are less fortunate considering they helped 6.8 million people all around the world to achieve strength, stability and independence through safe, decent and affordable shelter. In addition, it was reported that children raised in a Habitat home are twice as likely to go to college, compared to the local average for similar demographic and economic groups. This is because the Habitat for Humanity has provided the children an opportunity to break out of the poverty cycle and they are not taking the opportunity for granted. However, if it was not for the Habitat for Humanity, there is a chance the students won’t be having the same success because it is very difficult to break out of the poverty cycle.
