The first standard in the NASW Standards and Indicators of cultural competence is; “social workers shall function in accordance with the values, ethics and standards of the NASW Code of Ethics…("NASW cultural standards," n.d.).” Unfortunately the social worker in this case study was found to have violated the code of ethics. She did not receive appropriate consent to work with the students. It would be important for the social worker to read the NASW Code of Ethics to better understand informed consent. She should also seek supervision where she can receive guidance for future situations. Another ethical breach was that the social worker in this case study was not fully competent in facilitating this type of group. She had no experience working
