Casey the at Bat and story David and Goliath, a comparison of David and Casey shows differences and similarities. Some of these differences and similarities are that both characters are in a situation. I know this because in the article Casey at the Bat the author states “The Outlook wasn’t brilliant for the Mudville nine that day: The score stood four to two, with but one inning more to play.And then when Cooney died at first, and Barrows did the same, A sickly silence fell upon the patrons of the game” and in the article David and Goliath the article states “When the Israelite soldiers saw Goliath, they were scared and ran off.” In these quotes from the passages they both talk about David and Casey’s situation like no one wanting to fight Goliath or being down in a baseball game and having to bat for the team. I know this because in the passage “Casey at the Bat” the author states “Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright; The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light, And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout; But there is no joy in Mudville – mighty Casey has struck out.” In the passage “David and Goliath” the author states “ He put a rock in his sling and swung the sling around by its straps. When he let go of one strap, the rock flew out and hit Goliath on the forehead. It cracked his skull, and he fell facedown on the ground.” In both of these quotes it shows how only one person succeeded and the other did not.
