Throughout the 21st century, Catholicism has been known to be the largest religion worldwide with billions following God. Islam is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion which spanes out from Catholicism. Adherents to a religion express their understanding of the other through the beliefs and important rituals of the faith they follow. Therefore, it can be seen, that the idea of the divine can be seen in the core beliefs and funeral rites of Catholicism and Islam.

After death, the funeral planning process should begin, with the priest performing the rites can be administered. Funeral masses are held at Catholic churches and shouldn’t be held on special occasions such as Good Friday, Holy Thursday, Holy Saturday or Easter Sunday. If the person is asked to be cremated the ashes are not to be distributed in the church. In the past the Catholic church hasn’t permitted cremation, but as the Church changes it is now acceptable. The body must be presented at the funeral mass before being buried or cremated. After the Mass, the body should be entombed, buried or at sea, and should not be scattered. Awake is permitted with family and friends who gather at the home of the deceased or at a funeral home, were prayers may be said. A priest would normally lead the funeral if a priest is not available deacons will lead the service. The prophets of God all include Adam, Abraham, Moses, and Muhammad. The Prophets had the job of spreading the message that there is only one true God and he is worthy of being worshiped. Muslims understand that Angels administer God’s kingdom and record words and deeds. Muslims one day hope that on a particular day that all life on Earth would end and the dead would rise. Each person will be judged individually by God on the good and bad decisions each person has committed, God will show mercy and fairness. Those who made good decisions would be rewarded by going to heaven for the rest of eternity. The people who made bad decisions would eternally suffer in hell. The Quran is Islam's sacred text of divine guidance with God, it contains scriptures of God, Muhammad and the angel Gabriel.
