“The loneliest moment in someone's life is when they are watching their world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly” (Fitzgerald 115). While reading The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald does a great job showing why the characters act the way they do. This plays out a lot in our own life as well, sometimes we can't do a thing but sit back and watch what's being unfolded right in front of us. It helps draw you more into the story on top of the mystery, suspense, and romance this book provides . Within the book there are 3 main characters Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby and they bring the main conflicts of romance and change in the book. In the beginning she was this shy girl that never said much about anything including her own husband's affair. “ Best thing a girl can be in this world is a beautiful little fool” (Fitzgerald 17) . You could see her personality shine through when she said this, showing how scared she is in this world since the one she so once “loved” , or maybe somewhere still in her does, continually cheats on her. Saying the only thing a girl can be in this world is beautiful because men will always in a way control the way we live our lives. As the book progresses through she starts seeing Gatsby again then she becomes a more rebellious person, since her husband and Gatsby are now both seeking to win her over. When Gatsby died that decided who she would have to love and probably would have ended the same to please Tom even if she all along still was in love with Gatsby, and that's why she changed to a different woman than was first shown in the beginning.
As you read further into The Great Gatsby you can see how Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby's start to show their true self, and prove they are very different from how they appeared from the beginning. The things they all encountered was what helped changed the way they became, and everyone in life changes after difficult measures are thrown at them. Yes they were very different from in the beginning but they had many reasons to now act the way they do including coming forth with the
