CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISORDER.

The word ‘Pulmonary’ as used in the term COPD refers to anything relating to the lungs. The lungs are responsible for respiration; Respiration is key to daily living. Anything Chronic is an illness that is persistent and constantly recurring. If the disease is obstructive it prevents air from getting in and out of the lungs. A disease is a disorder in the normal function of the body. Therefore Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder is a persistent and constantly recurring disease that occurs in the lungs causing one to experience breathing difficulties. COPD is a term that covers Chronic bronchitis, Emphysema and in some situations Refractory asthma.
