Cinco de Mayo specifically comes from Mexico and it is celebrated there and in the United States. This celebration is not religious at all, but cultural; it is celebrated once each year. In May 5th 1862 a battle against the French had occurred near Puebla during the French intervention in Mexico. Mexico had debts with other counties at that time including the French, so as an excuse the French went in and tried to earn leadership in their country. This fight only lasted daybreak to early evening, but as little time as it sounds the French had little over 400+ soldiers’ dead and a little less than a 100 Mexican soldiers. Mexico had defeated the French and had showed a great symbolic victory toward their government.
