Clara Barton Civil War Nurse
Clara Harlowe Barton has earned a place in American history. She has the honor of being called the “ Angle of the Battlefield”. Clara Barton was an amazing person with so much compassion. During the Civil War she tried to help as much as she can. During the Civil War she worked as a nurse to wounded soldiers. From there it spiraled to a bigger better thing. After the War she she established an organization to look for missing soldiers and reunite then to there families. This turned into the American Red Cross foundation. This extended her help to work with people in floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters.

Even though you would consider her childhood to be great she had challenges from the inside. For example all the reputation she had to live up to. When she was sixteen Barton was falling asleep on the couch and she heard her mother talking to a man. Then she soonly realized that it was Dr. L.N. and english phrenologist. Her mother was explaining to him that she had a child that was difficult to deal with but really she was referring to Barton. The doctor explained to her mother “ The sensitive nature will always remain. She will never assert herself. She will suffer wrong first, but for others she will be perfectly fearless.” But he was right because one her own she was timid and shy but when she was caring for others she would be brave and strong. She had famous relatives that did great things. But her brother became an amazing lawyer. During her childhood she was an extraordinary student. At six years of age she studied astronomy, ancient history, and poetry. But she battled ceaselessly against a deep-seated conviction. She had convinced herself that she was weaker, less intelligent, and honelier. She even believed that she was less likely to succeed than others in her family. She also fought against her feelings of inferiority when she compared herself to others. She also struggled with poor health. But she was frightened of public
