Comparing Catholicism And Christianity

After attending a worship service different from my own tradition I learned a lot of differences between Christianity and Catholicism. I learned that at a Christian based church they have a pastor, not a priest (as Catholics), they do not advertise Jesus on the Cross, (like Catholics do), I learned that Christians do not confess their sins to a priest (a worker of God), they do more confessing to God himself. I was able to recognize that in Christianity you can be baptized at any age as desired. In Catholicism the baptism is usually done after one is born. The service that was presented was more formal, where in a Catholic Church’s the readings are established by the Church in Rome. Catholics have a Pope that we refer to and worship who we consider the closest to God, while Christians don’t. Marriage in Christian’s religion is considered “A Holy Sacrament” while Catholics believe, “Marriage is a sacrament between woman and man, where they become one, divorce does not exist, but there is annulment. …show more content…
I did not feel “holiness” as I would call it. I did not feel spiritual. It felt like it was “just a room” to me. Hence, my Catholic Church I walk in and I feel the presence of God and Jesus Christ. The smell and atmosphere was very different as well, Catholics have incents, candles on, and while in the Christian church they did not have that. I feel that way mainly due to his appearance of his body resurrected on the cross hanging from the ceiling. In a Catholic church the bread is given after it has been prayed and blessed on. While I was in the Christian church there was no bread of any kind given out. The Christian church is more out spoken and Catholic church is more conservative, quiet, and by the book. My religion is the same every week as to every holiday. Christianity is always practiced differently every
