How does our society distribute and influence conformity? Well, there are many ways but the most common ways are either peer pressure or the desire to be like someone else instead of being yourself. Our current nations act as one another because they have come to know that no one admires change or difference. Some are scared of disagreeing because it could turn a community against them, and others obey because they’re shy. The main point is that if we all become similar, no one will be unique and there’d be no individualism. Our civilization should be pleased with everyone similarities but also admire and accept each other's differences. In the book “A Wrinkle In Time” conformity had appeared many times; some of those events are discussed throughout this piece of writing.
As explained, conformity isn’t appreciated and as a community, we should conform as little as possible. Meg is one of the main characters in the book and her mindset had changed a lot throughout from the beginning to the end. In school, Calvin was considered to be a “cool kid” because he played basketball and had popular friends. He had many friends and was a part of many groups, but all of them didn’t know Calvin. Everyone thought that he was a popular, smart, and outstanding student with the perfect family; no one knew that he hided his differences and drowned in them instead of showing them to the world. Believing that he wouldn’t be accepted for himself, Calvin hided his differences for a long time; all this changed when he met Meg and Charles Wallace; They helped him love and appreciate his differences. On Camazotz Calvin confronted IT and conformity because he wanted to be himself and nobody
