Most dystopian fiction have the similar setting of a controlled environment. In the controlled environment, there is always a superior power who is in charge of the characters, usually without the characters knowing or wanting them to. This power most likely dominates the society because they censor the citizens to maintain their high ranking. They usually hide the past history or their future plans.
