Cultural competence is one's ability to understand and collaborate with others from different cultures. This includes the ability to understand and respect the values, attitudes, beliefs, and experiences of those within those various cultures. By understanding and respecting a diverse range of cultures, there are fewer healthcare disparities and improved health outcomes (Nair & Adetayo, 2019). Minorities typically face different social determinants that impact their health and ability to get care. Recognizing these factors and effectively collaborating with diverse cultures allows healthcare workers to provide better care and have a greater impact.
