On September 13, 1967, Brad Francis Heims was born in Manchester, Iowa. Brad grew up on a dairy farm in Monticello, Iowa until he was 13. Brad lived with his mom, dad, his brother Brian, and his two sisters Berna and Brenda. Brad milked cows, drove tractors, bailed hay, and did other farm chores for 8 to 12 hours with his father, most of his childhood. Brad loved riding and working on dirt bikes. He was always installing new parts, and over-hauling his own dirt bike. Brad also participated in 4H, where he showed dairy cattle and horses. Brad had to train the cows, to show them how to lead and stand. Brad also broke horses with is uncle, to teach them how to lead and ride. To sum up Brad's childhood, you could say Brad was a bit of "farm boy"; and didn't mind getting dirty, or doing hard work. Brad loved and was very influenced by his father, Herb, because he worked with him everyday on their farm. Whether it was building things or just doing chores, Brad loved spending time with his father. Brad's father had a very big impact on his life, that's lasted a lifetime. The Dallas Cowboys influenced Brad's liking of football. They always seemed to be winning, and this interested him. Soon he began to favor the team. He still roots for the Cowboys today! Yet I never really knew a lot about my dad's interests or what he liked. I had never known what college my dad went to, or how long he has had the job he has today. Before this biography assignment, I didn't really know what my dad wanted to do as a child, or what he liked when he was younger. I had no idea of his plans for even his future from today.
