In today’s society, people are more exposed to variety types of social media as we are living in an Information Era that allows us to exchange information freely in a short time. For example, we can see lots of television program and advertisements that delivers persuasive messages to us so that they can influence us, even though some of it is not true and not even beneficial. One of the bad effects of the social media is, the arising issue in which woman always concern about their body image and think that there is only one ideal and perfect size. It is all because of the influenced of the media. Media tend to show and portrays unrealistic standards of beauty. In her essay, Tannen argues that women are continually being “marked” by the society. Consequently, most of the women are always being extremely meticulous about most of their action and what they are going to wear. Most of them are also dress because they want to impress society around them. So, this ‘marking’ can be one of the causes on why women willing to do all those injudicious things—because they always being marked and already sick of it and start to find a ‘solution’ to it. Anorexia is one of the implications that a woman can get into when they are too obsessed about their body image. Because of this rising issue about anorexia as women tend to have a perception that people are praising stick thin people, they also want to be thin to want to being praised by the society. There are some parties or companies that are trying to stop this issue from continually arising and they are using social media to spread their messages—easier and faster medium to convey
