Have you ever wondered what it is like to dine in a tropical forest, isolated with nothing but the scenery of nature’s finest views? Inside the lush jungles of Cancún, through the open canals of southeastern Mexico, resides not only a festive restaurant, but a one-of-a-kind entertaining experience entailed with Mexican music, culture, tradition, food, games and a carnival-themed night aboard one of the various Mexican style gondolas in Xoximilco (pronounced zo-Chee-meelko).
On a warm Tuesday night, among the luxuriant barricade of trees, you walk a few steps on the gritty passageway leading onto a dimly lit patio decorated in theme to a mini carnival with striped tents harboring booths for the games, margaritas, and an unoccupied stage playing Latin music on the speakers, just loud enough to feel the colorful ambiance but low enough to hear your own voice. The mariachi was stationed directly in front of our boat, ours was anchored in front of theirs making it easier to dance. The mariachi began playing an upbeat type song known as a cumbia (coom-bee-ya) in Mexico. The objective was to stand up, tuck our chairs under the table and starting moving forward dancing all around the table. Nearing one end of the boat we needed to turn around and shake the booty, making a sexy dance and quickly take a shot. Our next stop is salsa! This next game involved a current of shock. We all stood in a circle and held hands. One person was holding a handle that has a shock control and navigates that current through each person’s body. The person to let go first has to take a shot and is disqualified. The shock was so strong at one point that you no longer hand control over your hand movements, your arms were curling inward and it made you weak. But with music and drinks, it made it all
