All great literature shares the love for a powerful antagonist. Abraham Lincoln once said “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.” All of mankind have an innate need for power, not only for power in a group but power over themselves. A villain can have power and knowledge to an extraordinary extent yet still not have power and control of themselves. When all else fails such extents come into play such as one who makes an alter-ego. Mr.Hyde or Dr.Jekyll is a villain who mainly capitalizes on Mr.Hyde doing the bad things for Dr.Jekyll. Dr.Jekyll is a quite normal person with an uncontrollable need for mischief. Although he does have this need he has not to let it grow in ‘ Dr.Jekyll ‘.
