Dress-Down Day “Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury” (Chanel). For students who attend Catholic school, the opportunity to take part in a dress-down day is considered a luxury. However, these days could be improved with changing the types of pants that can be worn, the accessories that can be matched with our outfits, and how many times these days occur. Mr. Schneider, please broaden the range of what our students are allowed to wear on dress-down days. One of the stricter guidelines of what we as students can wear is the styles of our pants. Students are advised only to wear jeans or cargo shorts and are restricted from wearing sweatpants, along with other types of pants. By doing this, students are losing their sense of comfort. Sweatpants provide room to move and the material used to make the clothing is softer compared to the stiff material used in jeans. Students are confined to wear at most one bracelet on each wrist. However, if students were permitted to wear the amount of bracelets they choose, it could help boost their self-respect. If a student is confident in their appearance they’ll be more confident in their school work. Another factor we as students want to change is the amount of earings girls can wear. Middle school can be difficult for girls especially who are just not comfortable with their appearance and adding an extra piercing to their ear can raise their confidence level. Lastly we would like to alter the color of socks we can wear. Instead of wearing bland colors like black, grey, or white students can branch out and try other colors. This gives students a chance to explore their creative side. In conclusion, allowing students to explore and experiment with different styles of accessories will give them a chance to express themselves in new
