The act of incarceration was new in American. There are more prisoners in America in than most of the world. It started in the 1820, where alcohol use was high. The American incarnation rate was high from 1920-1970 at about a 100000 thousand. The year 1970 was the beginning of war on drugs and the end of the civil right movement (Web NP). The decline in casual drug use may be unrelated to the war on drugs. However, cigarette smoking and excessive use of hard liquor are also dangerous due to the greater awareness of health dangers. This is not to say that marijuana is harmless to everyone. I know of a man who will pour powder cocaine in a clear bag and inhale it. The Cocaine is a strong addictive stimulant drug that is gotten from leaves of the coca plant which can be found in South America. It can create short term relaxation, and energy. It also has its dangerous side effects which people tend to ignore, such as raising heart rate and blood pressure. Cocaine can be in both powder form and liquid form too when dissolved in water. It can either be injected intravenously, inhaled by snorting and then it can be smoked also. They all have the same effect in the body, although smoking and drinking can go directly into the blood stream and brain which produces a quicker and stronger effect, and the effect can be short lasting. Snorting cocaine has a longer effect on the brain but take a while for the effect to be felt, so people who snort cocaine tend to increase the amount the snorts every time for a faster and longer lasting effect. This practice can easily lead to addiction, a chronic relapsing disease caused by changes in the brain and characterized by uncontrollable drug-seeking no matter the consequences (National Institute on Drug Abuse. …show more content…
Marijuana is another name of a hemp plant called Cannabis sativa, which is now commonly used in high school. However the number of people who know the However, the number of young people who believe marijuana use is risky is decreasing, as more researchers are done on drug. (Johnston, 2014). People smoke marijuana by rolling them up in a clear paper called joint or some people smoke it by inhaling the vaporizer. These vaporizer pull the active ingredients and also the chemical component THC from the marijuana leaves and then inhales the vapor. (National Institute on Drug. 2015). There is a community in the south part of Nigeria, where they grow marijuana as their grass, they call it unwanted weed. The abuse of drug starts from the local community, there is a place called Fella Shrine, own by the famous Afro Musician Fela Kuti, located in the eastern part of Nigeria, smoking of drugs are legal in there. There is an immunity covering you. You are allowing to smoke, inject, and abuse yourself with as much drug you can handle and control. We have politician, celebrities, law enforcer, police officers who go to Fela Shrine to smoke. These are the same people who will have you arrested if caught with hard drug on the street.
