The meaningful use of electronic health record technology is to improve the quality of care that patients receive at a health care facility. Also, this includes the safety of every person’s health information. In fact, patients’ health records are to be kept private from unofficial medical establishments that try to obtain information they are not allowed to have (2015). There are two acts that have been made to demonstrate incentives when the hospitals and doctors use electronic health records in their daily jobs when dealing with patients. While the ONC makes meaningful use possible through the use of electronic health records technology, the CMS encourages all of the doctor offices and hospitals to use these new electronic records when inputting data. If these places do not use the electronic records in health care facilities, then Medicare and Medicaid will refund a lesser amount until the health organizations change the system they use to the new type of health records. The CMS determines how much money will be given to the physicians and health centers regarding the incentive payments (McWay, p.305). This level encourages the improvement of the care quality that patients receive by sharing health data. This information is being shared between different doctors on what they have recorded that could be helpful for future patients (McWay, p.306). Therefore, stage two has improved the clinical actions that are currently being taken. There is more health information being exchanged in the health care field than there has been in past decades. An example of this is providing lab results that concern different health conditions that can be beneficial to a doctor (2015). When a doctor has access to this, they can help any person in need. Health providers are focusing on the trade of health information that is occurring between one another.
