“That I survived the Holocaust and went on to love beautiful girls, to talk, to write, to toast and tea alive, my life- that is what is abnormal” (Elie Wiesel). The Holocaust was so horrid, bad, and unbearable, everything that used to be normal, was no more. Everything was so unknown and dark, it felt unfamiliar. It all started in 1944 with a concentration camp called Auschwitz. When they arrived they smelled some horrible stench, and saw a chimney spewing smoke and flames. From there on his life declined, in Night, by Elie Wiesel. Elie was only a teenager before his home, family, and everything he had was taken away and thrown into a silent, dark, and violent world. Through Elie's point of view this was a darkness of life. He felt as if there wasn't a light to guide his way. He never found a shed of light or hope. He felt as if there was no meaning to live without happiness. Through all of this he also felt like it was a godless world. He still didn't know what to believe anymore. He was slowly losing faith and trust in everyone. He felt like a sheep without his guide to show him every step him every step. Also where ever you looked you would always somehow find death. Without them knowing men were sent the left, and death along with women, children, and elderly to the right. If you were a child, or a girl you were immediately showered with gas. Hitler and the Nazi's ended up killing millions of innocent people without thought or a mind. Through this hardship the world stayed silent. No one ever decided to speak out. If you went against their word they would use their power. It would be an attack, death, or Torture keeping silent to not earn this. Throughout this there was also violence and abuse. They easily threw children and woman into fire pits. They would hit you, treat you bad, and beat you. You could either have really small Rations, or get hit from SS officers. There was also a few examples of mortality. If you broke any rules you would be punished. You could also then have a death penalty. There were many factors from Malnutrition, to abuse, cold, or weakness to die. This hatred was done to everyone no matter how innocent, but also
