Our culture has been influenced by people with power over the years. Nowadays, the American culture is more modernized and sophisticated compared to the twenty century. Popularity and the term "going viral" are some of the words that influence the most the new pop culture. These words basically describe how awesome is today’s society. Also, these words describe how a modern epic hero should be. For example, J. K. Rowling created “The Harry Potter Series” which is a hero that influence young generations, but also motivated modern society to read more. On the other hand, we have George Lucas that influenced generations in 1977 with an epic that astonished children and adults “Star Wars”. Frodo was seen by the people as a small, curious, thoughtful, observant, and unfailingly polite hobbit. However, what makes him a really important hero is his bravery. One example of this, is when he said:” I will take it...I will take it...I will take the Ring to Mordor” (Tolkien 80). This act of almost self-sacrifice is what make him so special and important because even that is not his responsibility and he could be killed in the quest, he chooses to save his world from evil. However, at the beginning of the story, Frodo did not display any hero qualities, but that changes over time. This change is really impressive because he does not consider himself a hero, but the job must be done. In fact, his determination to do his best and his bravery were the keys to be successful in his mission. Frodo is not like the other heroes because, “Frodo, as a hero in his own right, displays slightly less helpless hero-worship for Aragorn than do the others, though while Aragorn is with them, he bows to his judgment” (biography). Overall all the qualities that Frodo display during the course of the movie. He was not predestined to be that main hero because he was like the less likely creature for the job. For instance, in a world like “The Lord of the Rings” the hobbits were not considered heroic or important creatures. A good example of this type of hero is Luke Skywalker. He is the guy who is destined to be a hero. At the beginning of the story he is seen as a farm boy, but that changed when two robots appear and change his life. One of them with a hidden message from the princess of the rebels. At that moment, Luke is introduced into a new world which if fact is where he belongs. This world is basically a world of adventure and danger. Before he meet this new world, the only life he knows is the life of a farmer. Furthermore, in his early life he only knows that his dad was an important warrior who was killed during a battle. However, he was not aware that he was more than a farmer son of a warrior. In fact, Luke throughout the course of the story, he began to demonstrate bravery, loyalty, ability. For example, the loss of loved ones like his Aunt and Uncle. They were killed by the empire evil forces and eventually Obi-wan Kenobi (his teacher) was killed by the biggest villain in the empire Darth Vader. Those events show him the way his new world really works. In addition, it also lets him pick a side and decide who he want to become. He had to pick between the good side and the evil side. At that moment the evil side was really powerful. On the contrary, the good side was losing power, but was still a powerful side. Moreover, he was destined
