Alex K Womack 5th Net Neutrality 11/30/17 Net neutrality. A topic very widely debated about. Everyone has an opinion they’re entitled to and depending on your beliefs and views on technology and the internet you may be for or against net neutrality. I personally am for it seeing as though it’s very important to people of my age especially.
The internet in this day and age seems to be the only way we can truly express ourselves. We can say and write anything we’d like at no expense. We as millennials never seem to be heard by our elders but using social media we can spread awareness and shed light on important

It is the most used thing among millions of people. Taking it away would not only keep people from daily news but would also keep people from doing normal daily activities. If we were to take away or raise the price of internet, it would interfere with commonly used social media. For example, in 2017 over 81% of people use social media around the world. In fact the number of worldwide social media users reached up to 1.96 billion and is expected to grow to 2.5 billion by 2018. To get a sense of how things will be different, think of AT&T’s cable company DirecTV, which lets users stream content from DirecTV over the wireless network without it counting against their monthly data cap. The general practice of letting wireless users stream video for free is known in the industry as “zero rating.” Without net neutrality, ISPs like AT&T, and Verizon will legally be able to conduct their businesses differently than they do now. For example, they could give more attention to services they directly profit from and block those they don’t, all the while charging internet companies like Netflix additional fees for ‘stealing’ their customers. Its not stealing if people are using their heard earned cash to create and pay for a Netflix account. Its not stealing if someone chooses to give their money to hulu instead of paying for cable and watching it on there. Its simply about opinion. If you want to get mad over people “stealing” these companies money, then get mad but you cant ignore
