The nineteenth amendment was the turning point for the women of the United States of America. Considering everything many women saw and went through, they deserved to have this because they fought for what they wanted and finally got it. Women were not aloud to do many things before the nineteenth amendment, they were to stay home bare children, take care of the children and cook and clean for their husbands and kids. They were to not have jobs that was their job, they could not vote they couldn’t put their opinion into anything having to do with the government or things that men were to decide on. Many events took place in this time that helped bring this amendment to what it is now. The women of this time period protested “petitioned, and picketed to win the right to vote” and did many other things to be equal with men for example to vote and work ( ). Also many states passed the suffrage act, which was a movement to get women to be able to vote. Another event that took place was Minor vs. Happersett took place in 1875 this took place because minor was trying to get equal voting rights but when that did not happen she sued the supreme court ( ). These events seemed to open some people's eye to what women were subjected to. The lead to women having the same rights as men took many things but the most important event was the suffrage act. The government had many conventions to talk about this for example one was "Declaration of Sentiments"( ). Susan B Anthony talked at a convention for women’s rights, she spoke to get them about expanding the suffrage right but they did not. It took many years for them to pass this. Even though this did get passed it took many years and many conventions to talk about this
