Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles or having moral uprightness. This is the definition google defines it as, but there are many other definitions that all end up relating to the same thing: The ability to be a leader with strong moral and ethical principles. Although this may be what people consider the true definition of integrity, the word can mean something else to someone else. Some consider integrity to be a greater quality than being rich and smart. As Bob Marley once said, “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.” The bottom line is that integrity is a word that can be interpreted differently by all but ends up describing someone in a positive way. Nelson Mandela is by far the best example of integrity. Nelson Mandela was known for his active role in achieving human rights and a better future for everyone in South Africa. Layne who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Deere & Co.. Robert once said, “There’s no trust without integrity. Integrity comes first and sets the stage for everything that follows” (Layne, Robert. “Integrity”). The point Robert is trying to convey is that without integrity, there is nothing to go off of., that having integrity is the starting ground of everything. In his speech, Robert explains that integrity is to be a strong leader, which to able to acknowledge challenges, notice problems quickly, then ask questions about those problems and demand to get the solution. This can take sacrifice which in the long-run looks good, but not so much in the short-run. A person must be able to deal with reality, no matter how tough it is, they must have so much commitment to being a leader, only then will integrity show (Layne, Robert
